This necklace is made from an Italian coin; on the back is the god Vulcan hammering at his anvil.
 
The Ouroboros, or tail-devouring serpent, represents introspection, and the cyclical nature of the universe. This ancient symbol originated in Egypt, where it was used to represent the constant death and rebirth of the sun. The Ouroboros snake sustains life by eating it's own tail, signifying creation from destruction, or life from death.
